Softball's Davis and Spurrier Win Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week

High Point, N.C. – Erskine College’s Courtney Davis and Kelsey Spurrier have been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas softball Player and Pitcher of the Week during week number five in the 2010 season.
Erskine first baseman Courtney Davis (Asheville, NC) hit .800 on the week along with five walks. Of her eight hits for the week, six hits went for extra bases, including three home runs. She hit two home runs in Erskine's 5-2 victory over No. 24 ranked Carson-Newman College on Monday, driving in four runs. She hit another two-run home run against Queens University to help Erskine battle back from a four run deficit.
Erskine pitcher Kelsey Spurrier won both her starts this week. On Monday, she pitched a complete game against No. 24 ranked Carson-Newman College. She followed-up that performance on Friday against Queens University, pitching another complete game victory. For the week, Kelsey Spurrier (Charlotte, NC) threw 13 innings, surrendered just two earned runs, three total, while striking out 11. It is the second time this season that Kelsey Spurrier has been selected as Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week.
