Fleet Hoops Finish 9th in Three National Categories

DUE WEST---The Erskine men's basketball team completed their season ranked in 9th in three different NCAA Division II statistical categories. Erskine finished 9th in scoring defense, allowing 61. 1 points per game. Erskine led Conference Carolinas in scoring defense by averaging 11 points per game less than any other school. The Fleet's defensive ranking is even more impressive considering four Conference Carolinas school (Pfeiffer, Barton, Anderson, Mt. Olive) rank in the nation's top 17 in scoring. Erskine allowed opponents to score more than 76 points on two occasions, Pfeiffer scored 83 points in a game at Pfeiffer and Brevard scored 90 against the Fleet in triple overtime game that ended tied in regulation at 59-59. Erskine also led Conference Carolinas in Field Goal Percentage Defense, allowing opponents to shoot 41.6% from the field.
Erskine finished ninth in two other categories nationally. Erskine made 11.7 turnovers per game and committed 14.8 fouls per game, both ranking them 9th among NCAA Division II schools.. The Fleet led Conference Carolinas in both categories. Erskine led Conference Carolinas in all three categories last season as well, but this season's output in scoring defense and turnovers are Erskine's best since joining the NCAA in 1994.
