Due West, SC – The Fleet held the Slippery Rock lacrosse team to just ten goals in the first half but could not keep up with the Lady Lions in the second half as Slippery Rock won 22 to 2.
Slippery Rock entered today’s game having beaten fellow Conference Carolinas member Converse College 15 to 9. In that game, Amy Halls, the Rock’s single season goal scorer, notched nine goals. The Fleet defense did a great job limiting her opportunities in the first half, holding her to just one goal and Slippery Rock to just 10 goals. Unfortunately, the Fleet defense wore down allowing twelve second half goals, including three by Amy Halls. The Fleet had a difficult time transitioning from defense to offense as Slippery Rock was quick to double-team, and even triple-team, the Fleet player.
The Fleet goals were scored by Hillary Henry and Jaclyn Glendinning while goalkeeper Kaitlyn Overley had 12 saves. Slippery Rock was led by Amy Halls with 4 goals.
Slippery Rock improves to 2-0 on the season while the Fleet falls to 0-9. The Fleet host Converse College on St. Patricks Day at 6 p.m.
