Due West, SC- Erskine Golf is getting geared up for another season of play and Head Coach Jason Allen is very excited: “I am really looking forward to this spring because I can just see us getting better.”
On the women’s side, the Fleet are returning top player Tiffany Hutchinson who earned third team all conference honors last year as freshman. Hutchinson will be accompanied by freshman Courtney Balcome of Nova Scotia, Canada. Balcome led the team in stroke average during the fall season, so she expected to make strong contributions to the team’s success this spring. The ladies find themselves ranked 6 of 8 in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll, but have their sights set on finishing in the top half of the conference by year’s end.

Wilson earned first team all conference honors last year and hopes to contend for conference player of the year this season. Top newcomers include freshman Joel Sawyer and sophomore transfer Mike Assey. Sawyer had a very strong fall, with a 75 stroke average. Sawyer and Assey will add needed depth to the Fleet roster as they hope to made a bid for their first tournament win this spring.
Keep check on the Fleet as they look to make a splash in conference play this spring. Erskine men will open their season on February 22 at the Johnny Palmer Invitational hosted by Pfeiffer University at the Old North State Golf Club. The ladies will open the season on March 3 at the Dana Rader Intercollegiate hosted by Pfeiffer at the Ballantyne Resort. Both teams will compete in the Conference Carolinas Championship tournament on April 18-20 at the Tanglewood Golf Club in Clemmons, NC.
