Due West, SC---The Erskine College Women’s tennis team, coming off their fifth straight conference championship, competed in the Conference Carolinas fall tournament this past weekend. The tournament provided the team with an opportunity for some of their young players to gain some experience, just two weeks into the school year.
Singles
Sophomore Tessa Rheault (Levis, Quebec, Canada) entered the A flight singles pool as the number two seed, eventually losing in the semi-finals to Christine Vanard from Lees-McRae.
1st Round Rheault defeated Lindsey Kelly-Converse 6-2, 6-2
Quarters-Rheault defeated Christina Engelberth-Queens 6-2, 6-2
Semi-finals-Rheault lost to Christine Vanard-LMC-6-0, 4-6, 6-1
Junior Britton Bignon (Athens, GA) entered the A flight pool as the number five seed. After losing her first match, Bignon battled back to make it to the quarter-finals of the consolation round before losing a tough match to Amanda Poole of Queens.
1st round Bignon lost to Alona Krutkina-Phieffer 6-4, 6-2
1st round consolation Bignon defeated Erin Williams-Queens 6-1, 6-1
Quarters of consolation Bignon lost to Amanda Poole-Queens 0-6, 6-3, 1-0(10-7)
Freshman Victoria Stephens (Cummings, GA) joined the two returning players in the A flight pool. Victoria defeated Stephanie Medley of Coker in straight sets for her first won of her college career, before falling to Eve Aubry of Limestone in her second match.

Freshman Abby O'Reilly (Acworth, GA), also in the A flight pool, picked up her first collegiate win defeating Erin Williams of Queens before losing her second round match to Alyssa Blanchard of Coker.

Quarters O’Reilly lost to Alyssa Blanchard-Coker 6-1, 6-4
Freshman Hannah Fisher (Auburn, AL) was placed in the B flight pool, and like her two freshman teammates, she picked up her first win of her career. In her first match, Fisher defeated Lee Cantey of Converse in straight sets, before losing to Elena Milva of Queens in the second round.

Doubles
Tessa Rheault and Britton Bignon teamed up as the third seed in the A flight pool. They would win their first two matches before losing in the finals to Blanchard and Lemar of Coker.

Victoria Stephens and Abby O’Reilly teamed together in the A flight, but had a tough draw, losing their first two matches of the flight.

Hannah Fisher and Bridget McKenna (Tampa, FL) were in the B flight pool. After losing their first round match, they made a run to the finals of the consolation round.
