Due West, SC – Erskine College and Career Athletes have joined together to help both current and past Erskine student-athletes in their career development.
Career Athletes offers a wide range of career development services and software. In addition to proprietary training and developmental seminars, Career Athletes will build and maintain a customized career networking site for Erskine College. This web site will provide additional career education, mentors, access to career opportunities and potential employers as well as a platform to connect alumni as both mentors and job seekers. Over the past ten years, Career Athletes has assisted over 250,000 student-athletes in the transition from college athletics to the workplace.
Erskine Athletic Director Mark Peeler sees this as a very positive move by the College. “I think it is critical for us to put our student-athletes in the best position possible to start and succeed in their chosen career path,” stated Mark Peeler. Dusty New, Career Services Director at Erskine, says “I am very excited about this partnership between Career Services, the Athletic Department, and the Alumni Office. By teaming up with Career Athletes, Erskine student-athletes and alumni will have access to a great on-line tool that provides career advice and opportunities, as well as mentoring and networking.” Buddy Ferguson, Director of Alumni Affairs, also commented, “This will provide an excellent opportunity for our alumni to mentor current student-athletes as well as find opportunity for their own career growth.”
Mark Peeler also expressed his gratitude to Dusty New and Buddy Ferguson. “The Erskine Athletic Department could not do this alone. We are thankful to both Buddy Ferguson and Dusty New for their vision and leadership in providing this service to our current and former student-athletes.” Currently, Erskine is the only member of Conference Carolinas to provide this service to its student-athletes.
