DUE WEST— The Erskine women’s soccer team battled Mt. Olive for 110 minutes on a Homecoming Saturday afternoon at Huggins Field and when the dust had settled the two teams settled for a scoreless tie. Despite dominating play for most of the afternoon, the Fleet never managed to find the back of the net. Erskine managed to get off 12 shots on the afternoon while Mt. Olive had 5 shots. Erskine freshman Molly Harpe (Anderson, SC) had the best opportunities on the afternoon, four times finding herself with breakaway opportunities that were denied by Mt. Olive goalie Lyndsey McIntrye. McIntrye made 7 saves on the afternoon while her Erskine counterpart Si’Ara Washington (Mt. Pleasant, SC) made 3 saves.
Erskine moves to 6-9-1 on the season and more importantly to 5-4-1 in Conference Carolinas play. The Fleet have secured a place in the post-season conference tournament which begins after next week’s finale at Belmont Abbey.
