Florence, SC- A storybook season ended this morning for the Erskine women's tennis team. The Lady Fleet, who earned a #7 Regional ranking and a #28 National ranking, were defeated 6-0 today by Francis Marion (#2 in the Region and #7 in the Nation). With this, the team closes the book on the 2007-2008 season with an impressive 20-4 overall record. 2007-2008 was a great year for the Fleet. as the girls earned their fourth straight bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament, fourth consecutive conference tournament and regular season titles, and extended their conference win streak to 51.
Coach Calhoun Parr commented on the match: "Francis Marion is a very good team and they played well. My ladies played the best they could, but ran into a tough opponent. I am happy with our season, winning the conference regular season and tournament championships. We need to keep making progress to advance further in the NCAAs."
