Due West, SC- Erskine men's soccer hosted USC-Aiken on Wednesday night on Huggins Field. Both teams battled the entire 90:00, but the Fleet were able to come out on top 2-0 for their 3rd win in a row. This victory improved the Fleet record to 5-6-1 on the season.
The majority of the first half was a evenly fought match, but a break for the Fleet finally came with only 5:50 left on the clock as junior John Michael Leppert was able to convert for a goal from the left wing, putting the Fleet up 1-0 going into half. This goal sent the Fleet into half with high spirits and the hunger for another goal.
During the second half the Fleet aggressively sought to put another one in the back of the net. In the 64th minute of the match, Erskine was able to make good on their second goal, this time it was Fernando Gamez who broke away from USC Aiken's center back and cut past the goalie to shoot on an open net. Gamez was assisted by Ryan voskuil. This goal would carry the Fleet to victory 2-0.
The Fleet will be back in action this Saturday as they host Pfeiffer on homecoming weekend. The match is scheduled for 3:00.
