Men's XC go 1-2-3 to take SWU Invitational
SID

Central, SC- This weekend the cross country teams headed over to Central, SC to participate in the Southern Wesleyan University Invitational.  This was the first time that SWU had hosted their annual meet since 2002, and it proved to be a big hit.  The course was very challenging, as most of it was either down or up hill with some sections being extremely steep.  But the Fleet were able to successfully navigate the terrain, taking the top three spots in the meet and bringing home the team title.

The Fleet dominated the race as they took the top three positions without challenge.  Sophomore Adam Groblewski again led the way, quickly followed by classmate Joseph Sell, and on his heels was junior Chance Ellison.  Senior Takaaki Shioya also placed well as he was 5th overall, aiding in the Fleet cause.  The scoring five was rounded out by sophomore Adam Pitts who was able to take 12th, giving the Fleet a total of 23, a great score which gave them the team victory.  Also running for the Fleet was Timothy Burrell who was able to place 18th overall.

Coach Sell commented on the performance: "This victory was defnintely a great way to end this stage of the season.  We are about half way through and are really coming into our own as we are learning how to effectively race as a unit.  Our main focus this whole season is the Conference Carolinas Championships on October 20.  All of these races are mere training sessions to prepare for that date.  I am pleased with our progress and look forward to the rest of the season."

The Fleet will have a week and a half off, being back in action on October 11 as they host the annual Erskine Invitational.  Race times are 3:15 for the women and 4:00 for the men.
