Sophomore Adam Groblewski

Gaffney, SC- The men's cross country team competed in the 8k event at the Limestone Invitational this past weekend.  The race saw great performances from all of the runners as most ran season bests.

Sophmore Adam Groblewski lead the Fleet again this weekend as he broke through the 27:00 barrier running a 26:59 on the 8k course.  This impressive performance earned him a second place finish in the race.  Growblewski looked strong as he ran with the top pack the entirity of the race and was able to break from them about mile 3.  From there he was able to catch 3 of the 4 top runners, within the last mile.  Growblewski was followed quickly by classmate Joseph Sell who also ran a personal best of 27:29, placing him 8th overall.  Again in third for the Fleet was junior Chance Ellison (29:27) who is still battling a hip injury from the Wingate Invitational.  It is expected that Ellison will be 100% by the end of this week.  Senior Takaaki Shioya came in fourth for the Fleet as he finished with a season best 31:21.  He is expected to be around the 30:00 mark by Conference.  And rounding out the scoring five was transfer sophomore Adam Pitts (32:41), who has dropped some significant time since the beginning of the season and keeps improving.  Freshman Tim Burrell (33:47) was the pusher for the Fleet this week.

The men will be back on the road this weekend as they travel to Central, SC to the Southern Wesleyan Invitational.  8k is to begin at 9:45.
